After arriving in Columbus in 1978 to play football for Woody Hayes' Buckeyes, I became awestruck by all the wonderful traditions that Ohio State University had to offer. I was one of eleven children and knew what it was like to be part of a big family. OSU became an extension of that family back home in Akron, Ohio. At Ohio State, Coach became like a father to me and Earl Bruce was of the same mold. I will never forget some of the expressions Coach Hayes used to make his point. All of these words of wisdom and all of the hard work that it takes to become part of the OSU football family are things that mold each and every player on the team. Those words and the work become lessons for life... they are the bricks and mortar that each player uses to build his future. Such have they been for me. |
